Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is usually located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs which require tasks to be performed at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, workers are able to perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket generally only holds one employee. These buckets are more suited to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these types of equipment must be directly positioned below the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms which enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these types of machinery, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle usually utilized to lift employees for various tasks done at heights. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are different types of cranes that could perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at various jobs and are suitable for particular applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
