Audible Devices - Back-Up or Motion Alarms:
The audible devices like motion alarms or back-up alarms generate sound that has to be loud enough in order to be heard above the sound that the forklift makes in the operating place.
The sound generated by the audio device must be distinguishable from other audible devices or sounds from the work environment. The sound should also be different from the other sound or audible devices within the work area. The audible device could employee noise exposure and end up contribute to OSHA noise limitation; thus, care should be taken.
Determine the direction and distance the sound of the audible device is made more difficult due to the use of hearing protection. Audible devices can sometimes get deactivated from operators and employees since they could find them very annoying. Moreover, audible devices may also be objectionable to nearby residents.
Additional Operator & Application Options:
Enclosed Operator Cabs: To protect the operator from the elements, enclosed operator cabs made of tempered glass are utilized to help prevent injuries and reduce other issues. In addition, these cabs feature an emergency exit through window removal. Noise levels are lessened at the operator's ear because of additional sound proofing.
Operator Selectable Performance Modes: The operator can choose the performance requirement for the specific application. Furthermore, it enables a supervisor to set the utmost performance of a unit for an operator who is just learning. Being able to reduce and adjust the model's maximum performance enables a new operator to learn the equipment's operating characteristics in a controlled environment.
Impact Monitor: The impact monitor disables the model and when this happens, it requires a supervisor to re-enable and override the unit. This encourages the operator to be certain to manage the machinery in a more controlled way.
Dual Rear View and Panoramic Mirrors: These mirrors serve as an aid to the operator in observing the tail swing area, as well as the operating environment behind the truck.
