In the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began making threshing machines. The business later gained global recognition as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the company grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.

By 1912, Case had become established in the construction equipment industry. The rapidly started to manufacture road building equipment like steam rollers and graders.
