Aisle Types
Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. These machines can turn in an aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to consider with different models.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and usually use certain guidance systems like rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are popular kinds in compact retail areas and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks could operate within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Normally these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are usually used in storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to lessen operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and therefore more productive while limiting exhaustion.
