Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various uses. There are various facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machine needs to be refueled.
In order to prevent potentially serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be sure to wear the correct safety equipment such as heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make certain that you turned off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by utilizing the hand.
