How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to perform tasks which could have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right choice for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be parked next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the charger or the control box, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can potentially occur.
