When the time comes to choose the appropriate warehouse truck, it is a good idea to figure out how high you plan to raise your loads, how much you have to lift, how much space you need to work in and how far you would like to travel. These considerations will really affect your buying decision and help decipher what kind of forklift truck is truly the ideal one out there to meet all your requirements and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
The most economical trucks are pedestrian stackers. These equipment are ideal for working in normal width aisles and finishing regular stacking jobs in a warehouse. They are capable of easily raising loads of less than 750kg and be able to stack them to heights of approximately 4.5 metres. A different kind called rider stackers can successfully lift cargo to approximately 6 metres.
Reach trucks are yet another choice to think about. They give you much greater load and lift capacities and several models come complete with telescopic forks. This feature enables you the ability of stacking pallets two deep. For added flexibility in goods handling, there is a multi-way and a 4-way reach truck which as the name implies, could be driven in four directions. These models are specifically great for handling long and large things such as planks, boards and piping.
Counterbalance trucks are best suitable for traveling longer distance and are a good choice for stacking jobs, especially block stacking. They are also a great alternative for free stacking and stacking loads that weigh over 2 tonnes.
A Tight Squeeze
The aisle space in a high-density storage operation would typically be much narrower, whilst the heights can be quite higher as well. The Man-up telescopic lift trucks are best used in high-bay, narrow aisle stores. They offer the driver or operator a good view of the stacking process. There are also models called man-up combi trucks. These are fairly versatile in that they can be utilized for both stacking and order-picking jobs. They could be used in narrow aisles or driven all over the warehouse.
